Workshop on Archiving Popular Culture
Gender Studies Programme, School of Human Studies, Ambedkar University, Delhi invites you to the workshop on "Archiving Popular Culture" on 24th and 26th March, 2015. The workshop will be held in Cr-12 on both days.
The aim of the workshop is to look at what is an archive? Can any document become an archive? Is every collection a possible archive? Is there a method to the making of an archive? Is an archive meant only for historians or could there be an archive for/of the present? Can popular culture become such an archive? How do we archive popular culture? If we do, how do we read such an archive? It couldn't be that the traditional methods of reading apply to popular culture as well! Or, could they?
Prof. M. Madhava Prasad and Dr. Navaneetha Mokkil, who will take us through some such questions on the methods of making and reading archives in our workshop through images and texts over two days.
