Research:

 

My dissertation is on “A Study of Urban Water System in India - The Social and Political Impact of Community Water Initiative in Cuttack, Odisha”. My research inquiries into the urban water service provisioning systems in Cuttack, Odisha and explores different kinds of non-state urban water providers in existence in the city. The study aims to understand the changing role of state in providing drinking water in urban India and to examine the community water intervention and its impact on the lives of low income communities.The core focus is on analyzing the social and political impacts of community water interventions on the lives of marginalized populations through a specific community water intervention initiative in Cuttack.

 

Bio Note:

 

I am an Urban and Regional planner working in the development sector for the last 15 years. My core areas of work are pro poor, inclusive, citizen centric governance mechanisms and poverty issues in urban and peri urban settlements. My specific interest hovers around urban water, sanitation and waste issues and looking at them from a decentralized community based perspective. I have worked closely with NGOs, civil society organizations, government and individuals who are involved in similar works.
