Programme Description

MA Education (ECCE) is a two year programme with an exit option after the first year, leading to a PG Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education.

MA Education (ECCE) courses enable a more in-depth and scholarly understanding of ECCE as a discipline, anchored in engagement with multiple disciplines including child development, sociology, history, critical pedagogy, psychoanalytic frame, anthropology, and management.

The PG Diploma course has been conceptualised with the aim of supporting professional understanding of planning, supervision and management of ECCE programmes for young children.

Programme Structure

  • The MA Education (ECCE) programme is delivered through a total of 70 credits over four semesters.
  • The PG Diploma in Education (ECCE) programme is delivered through a total number of 38 credits over two semesters and the following summer.
  • Field attachments, internship are part of both programmes.

Field attachments

  • Exposure visits to diverse preschools and crèches (Private preschools, Anganwadis, Balwadis, crèches)

Eligibility

  • Essential: Bachelors/ Masters degree with minimum 45% marks (or equivalent grade) in any discipline.
  • Desirable: Minimum one year’s work experience in the field of education or a diploma in education.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year examination of a degree may apply.
  • Relaxations in marks for reserved categories as per the Government of NCT of Delhi norms.

Fee Structure

Tuition Fees:

Fees: Rs. 1310 per credit + refundable caution deposit of Rs. 5,000 + student welfare fund deposit of Rs. 500 Partial to full fee waivers and scholarships available as per AUD rules and through proper application process.

Admission Procedure

Selection of candidates to the MA Education (ECCE)/Diploma (ECCE) programme will be through a written test and an interview. The written test will carry a weightage of 75% and the interview a weightage of 25%. Candidates will also be required to write a note on their motivation for pursuing this programme.

The written test will be based on two readings (written in English). These readings will be uploaded on the AUD website in the mid of June 2015. Candidates are expected to access and read these prior to the test. These will also be made available during the test. The test will be in English. Candidates will be evaluated for their ability to comprehend, apply and articulate their understanding of the readings and their ability to formulate arguments for and against specific positions. Candidates will be shortlisted after the written test for the interview. Candidates are advised to keep visiting the AUD website for further details or possible changes in the schedule.
